Karen Williams is an associate attorney at Portner & Shure, P.A. Her practice focuses exclusively on U.S. immigration and nationality law.
Ms. Williams has been practicing immigration law for almost a decade. In that time she has successfully handled numerous types of immigration matters for hundreds of clients. She has extensive experience with family-based immigration law, asylum cases, as well as deportation defense. She has helped many happy individuals obtain green cards and U.S. citizenship. She has handled a large number of cases before the immigration court, where she has successfully advocated for relief from removal based on: adjustment of status, asylum, cancellation of removal, waivers of inadmissibility, VAWA, and U-visas.
Ms. Williams has assisted numerous employers with finding solutions to employment-based immigration matters, including H1-B, TN and L-1 petitions, labor certifications, I-140 immigrant petitions and adjustment applications.
Ms. Williams earned her Juris Doctorate from the Hamline University School of Law. She received her Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Manitoba School of Business. She is a member of the Illinois Bar and also, and is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth circuit. She is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers’ Association (AILA).
Ms. Williams is originally from Canada and, personally understands the struggles of dealing with the American immigration legal system. Her own immigration challenges moved her to a career in immigration law to help those who facing challenging immigration issues.
