Mr. Shure has been an attorney licensed to practice in Maryland since 1991 and Virginia since 1995. He represents injured clients in matters of personal injury, including motor vehicle accidents, medical malpractice, and workers' compensation.
Mr. Shure graduated from the University of Maryland as a three-time ACC All Academic student. He was a running back for the Terps football team. After graduation, he stayed in the area and graduated from Georgetown University Law School. After working briefly at one of Baltimore’s largest law firms, he took a position as in-house counsel for a national health care corporation.
He has used the knowledge he gained in the health care industry to help persuade insurance companies to provide our injured clients with benefits they are entitled to receive. He successfully negotiates millions of dollars in claims each year. Further, he believes the Firm’s job is to fully and patiently explain every aspect of the case to the client’s satisfaction. As a result, many of the initial meetings with clients at Portner & Shure are done by Mr. Shure.
His philosophy, stemming from his football days, is not to cut corners, but rather to push aggressively on each automobile accident and medical malpractice claim. This philosophy has resulted in the successful negotiation of millions of dollars in client recoveries each year. Mr. Shure works on and analyzes the potential damage recoveries in all of the Firm’s big injury cases. As a result of his analysis, the Firm has obtained three separate awards of approximately one million dollars over the last several years.
Due to his expertise in the health care industry, he remains on the board of a national health care corporation. Million-dollar awards are rare. Due to Mr. Shure's expertise, Portner & Shure has recently accomplished this on multiple occasions. The Firm is now part of the Million Dollar and Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. These organizations are recognized as the most prestigious groups of trial lawyers in the United States. Membership is limited to attorneys who have won million and multi-million dollar verdicts and comprises fewer than 1% of all U.S. lawyers.
Mr. Shure is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, The Virginia State and Federal Bar Associations, and the Maryland Terrapin Club.
"My experience with Portner & Shure was very good. Richard Shure was very friendly and nice to talk with and Christine Airey was very helpful. They took care of everything and got me a fair settlement in a timely fashion. They were also able to refer me to a good chiropractor and get some medical fees dropped. I would recommend them for any of your car accident needs.."
