Torrey Johnson-Hochanadel is a trial attorney in Portner & Shure’s Central Virginia office in Richmond. He was licensed by the State Bar of Virginia in 2019. Torrey has been with Portner & Shure for two years, serving as a criminal defense attorney, appearing in General District, Circuit and Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courts throughout Virginia.
Previously he was a trial attorney with Christina Pendleton & Associates in Richmond for three years, serving as a criminal defense and traffic attorney.
Torrey graduated cum laude from Western Michigan University’s Thomas Cooley School of Law. While at Cooley, he was a finalist in the Mock Trial First Year Competition and active in the Student Bar Association and volunteer program. He also earned a Master of Science in Gerontology at the University of Missouri, St. Louis and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies at Fontbonne University in St. Louis.
Prior to his law career, Torrey worked as an advocate and coordinator for senior programs in St. Louis and was heavily involved in leading community organizations there.
Torrey is a native of Plainfield, New Jersey and grew up in Los Angeles. He is married and has a 13-year old son. He enjoys cooking a variety of cuisines and visiting historical sites with his family.
